The stadium BMO Field with synthetic grass

I have received numerous questions regarding the reasons for not finding many artificial lawns in Brazil and worldwide. To illustrate the extent of refusing this kind of lawn, I will cite a recent case. During pre-European season this year, Real Madrid went to Canada to face the Toronto Football Club in a friendly.

And the stadium BMO Field with synthetic grass was covered with a floor "of real grass" only requirement for this game by the club of Madrid. The justification: Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and company could not "take risks". The operation cost $ 250,000. After the game, the natural grass was removed and donated to schools in Toronto.

It is a fact that players, coaches, doctors and officials have reservations about the artificial turf. According to the players, the ground is too hard, the bounce of the ball is different, the handling more difficult, and the skin friction with synthetic fiber (nylon, polyester etc.). Causes burns.

Coaches, athletic trainers and doctors tout the increase in injuries attributed to the floor harder than synthetic lawn. Furthermore, the leaders who, as a rule, are averse to large investments in infrastructure and training centers lawns, complain of the cost of synthetic grass.

Analyzing the cost of the item purely grass, natural grass is cheaper than artificial. In the most expensive model of planting (mats or rolls), natural lawn costs, on average, six reals per square meter. This value falls if the system plugs or sprigs were used for planting. But the quality synthetic lawn hardly cost less than twenty reais per square meter.

The durability of a natural lawn is well built and maintained indefinitely. It is no exaggeration to speak of ten, 20 or even 30 years of life. The synthetic lawn already has an average manufacturers' warranty three to five years.

However, this does not mean that the natural grass is necessarily superior to the artificial, which takes advantage in at least two requirements: ability to support viability and trampling on weather or lighting conditions.
